i'm really sorry to hear that. it's sad what happens to dogs that don't have homes with people. one of the best things to do is work on preventing the situation by educating people about the importance of spaying and neutering their animals. this helps to reduce the number of animals that end up on the streets. you could see if there's a group in your area working on this and join them, or do work on your own by writing letters to news sources, talking with local shelters about the issue, etc. to help the animals that have aleady been born and are on the streets, you could work to educate people about adopting animals from shelters (rather than buying or breeding) so that they aren't euthanized.

i don't know how people can eat animals either -- it's just so sad, and the animals don't deserve that. being vegan means that you don't eat any animal products -- no meat, eggs, dairy, gelatin, rennet, etc. nothing that came from an animal. unfortunately, animals used in the egg and dairy industries are treated horribly as well, and so being vegan is a way to not support that exploitation. here's a flyer about what's wrong with dairy and eggs: http://afa-online.org/docs/dairy_eggs.pd...
